Course Description
SPAN 122 is the second quarter of a 3-quarter sequence in beginning Spanish. It is recommended for students with two or three years of high-school Spanish or equivalent experience. (Students who are especially proficient should consider taking SPAN 122.) It is intended to complete basic communication skills in Spanish, as well as continue to familiarize you with aspects of various Hispanic cultures. Additionally, a major goal of Spanish 122 is use narrative skills, hence the course includes a review of past tenses as well as an introduction to the subjunctive and other tenses. To accomplish both goals, we use a feature film, Sol y viento, designed specifically for elementary Spanish classes.
